A few more images of Yamakid's '78 XS750 daily rider.

Almost done. The frame will be
scrapped, and all the other stock parts kept in reserve.

The Yamaha 750 three cylinder power
plant, ready for a top end rebuild. Yamakid plans to polish the intake and
exhaust ports and use this head on his daily rider. The other head and this
engine will be rebuilt and kept in reserve.
| Update: The original engine has seized up, for reasons unknown. Yamakid started the bike and loaded it in his truck in the fall of '04 and put the bike in storage for the winter. When spring rolled around again, the engine was locked solid. No amount of coaxing will get it to turn again. A quick inspection of the plugs showed that the center cylinder is rusty, to the point of rust being packed in around the insulator and electrode in that cylinder. Plans are now to re-engine the bike with the '79 power plant in the image above. More on progress when work begins. ~bykrmom |
