Stock 1983 XV750
Where it all started

A short history to give some insight into my motivation, and my entrance into the world of motorcycle chopping:

In May of 2003, I was rear-ended by a young gal in a car in rural Western Wisconsin, while I was stopped waiting for oncoming traffic to clear, so I could make a left turn off of a county highway. My '85 XV700 Virago was mostly destroyed, leaving me badly battered and bruised and without a bike for the '03 riding season.

I decided to use a '83 XV750 project bike I had temporarily, while the cage owner's insurance company replaced my bike. Then I found out there was to be no replacement, just many insults from some jerk adjuster, a shyster lawyer, a greedy corporation, and a lawyer who was working for the enemy instead of me.

I was bitterly disappointed, and flat broke, but determined to somehow re-create the feel of my lost bike once more. I decided to modify the ungainly, top heavy, early model Virago 750 to make it ride similar to the one I lost by chopping and lowering it. There were several incarnations before it became the bike as it is today.

Below: The bone-stock '83 Yamaha XV750. The black '85 Virago in the pictures is the one that was wrecked. These images of the stock bike were taken in the Spring of 2003 just a week prior to the accident.
